Terms
These terms cover the use of the Slow Hours website and its email newsletter. By reading either, you agree to the modest conditions below.
The writing
All essays on this site are © Meredith Vale, unless otherwise noted. You are welcome to quote up to 200 words in a review or article, with a link back to the original. For longer reprints — for teaching, in a book, in a corporate newsletter — please write in first.
The newsletter
The newsletter is free. There is no paid tier. There is no "member content." Subscribing does not create an account or a contract; unsubscribing removes you from the list. There are no cancellation fees because there are no fees.
Warranties, or lack thereof
The essays on this site are the personal opinions of one person, offered in good faith. They are not professional advice — not medical, legal, financial, or otherwise. If you make a business decision on the basis of an essay, that is a decision you have made; the essay is not accountable.
Third-party links
Occasionally an essay links to a book, an article, or a person's website. Those links are provided because I thought they might be useful. I have no control over what those sites say or how they change over time.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of the jurisdiction in which the author is domiciled, which will not be identified here for the same reason your address is probably not on your own bio. If there is a dispute, please write in first and we will try to solve it like adults.
Changes
If these terms change, the new version will replace this page. Continued use of the site after the change means you accept the new version. The last update was made on 1 April 2026.
